Laser Technology

What is the difference between soft and hard tissue dental lasers?

Soft tissue dental lasers are commonly used to recontour excessive gums or to reduce the dental pocket depth while destroying the pathogenic bacteria in order to treat periodontitis and minimize gum infection.

Hard tissue dental lasers on the other hand are typically used in removing old fillings such as amalgam and composite in order to remove dental decay and prepare teeth for a new restoration.

Both soft tissue and hard tissue dental lasers help significantly enhance the patient comfort and allows for dental treatment with more accuracy and while the patient is at ease.

What procedures use laser technology?

Laser technology can be used for a wide variety of application such as soft-tissue recontouring, pocket depth reduction gum surgery, periodontal debridement in combination with manual curettes in order to remove bacteria from periodontal pockets, dental decay removal, some crown and bridge procedures, teeth whitening, and hardening composite materials used in fillings.
