Gingivitis is the early stage of gum diseases with indicators such as gum bleeding, bad breath, plaque, tartar on your teeth. Advanced form of gingivitis is Periodontitis which is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults in Canada. There are various classifications of gum diseases, based on their severity and oral manifestations.

The main goal of treating gum disease is to control the infection due to bacteria or virus (in very rare cases of gum disease as the manifestation of systemic diseases). The number of treatments and treatment types are planned by Dr. Jacqueline Ha or her associates, based on the type and severity of your gum disease. Also, daily home care is a requirement as part of the gum therapy, as recommended by Keele MajorMac Dental team.

Treatments can include scaling and root planning, medications or surgical procedures such as flap surgery or bone and tissue grafts.
